Animoca Brands Japan, XANA LLC, and BreakingDown enter into partnership
XANA LLC (hereinafter “XANA”), provider of the Web 3.0 metaverse “XANA”, is pleased to announce that it has signed a partnership with Animoca Brands Inc. (hereinafter “Animoca Brands Japan”), a strategic subsidiary of Animoca Brands Corporation Limited (hereinafter “Animoca Brands”), to support global expansion. Under this partnership, XANA will globally expand the Web 3.0 game “XANA BreakingDown (tentative title)”, a collaboration with the popular fighting event BreakingDown.
BreakingDown is the most popular martial arts event in Japan right now, where fighters from various backgrounds compete and the winner is decided in one-minute rounds. Launched in 2021 by mixed martial artist, businessman, and popular YouTuber Mikuru Asakura, the event’s unprecedented style has attracted attention and it has quickly grown into an entertainment with many fans. It also broadcasts videos of auditions, pre-tournament press conferences, match broadcasts, and behind-the-scenes footage, and is an extremely popular content with the highest number of views among domestic YouTube programs.
Animoca Brands Japan serves as a gateway connecting Japan with the rest of the world, and supports the global expansion of Japanese intellectual property and content (IP) in the Web3 field, as well as the expansion of overseas projects to Japan, in order to accelerate the mass adoption of Web3. ■What is the Web3 game “XANA Breaking down”?
This is a Web3 game in collaboration with BreakingDown, one of the largest mixed martial arts events in Japan. It is a new genre of game that combines the excitement of a real match with Web3 games. Currently, the game is in closed alpha and only those who own the XANA x BreakingDown avatar NFT can play the game.
XANA served as the main sponsor of BreakingDown 7.5, 8.5, and 9.5, held in March 2023, and issued and sold the “XANA x BreakingDown Avatar NFT” in collaboration with BreakingDown. The “XANA x BreakingDown Avatar NFT” was so popular that 5,000 units sold out in 10 minutes in the first sale, and 100 units sold out in 1 minute in the second sale. In addition, the company plans to launch the Web 3.0 game “XANA BreakingDown (tentative)” in 2025.
What is BreakingDown?
“BreakingDown” is a new type of mixed martial arts entertainment where fighters with various backgrounds, such as boxing, karate, kudo, judo, Nippon Kempo, sumo, and Systema, compete to determine the strongest in “one minute, one round.” As the name “BreakingDown” implies, which means “continue to break” the stereotypical image of martial arts and fighters, the fighters who aim to rise up fight with all their might in an ultra-short one-minute battle, and the attraction is the unpredictable developments.
